The death of a man who was found dead on the side of the roadway has been determined a homicide, according to the Connecticut State Police.
The unidentified man was found around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday when Troopers were dispatched to the area of Route 2 westbound near the Exit 4 off-ramp in the town of East Hartford, said the Connecticut State Police.
According to passersby, "it was indicated that an individual was lying in the travel portion of the roadway," state police said early Tuesday.
When troopers arrived on the scene they found a black male lying in the right shoulder of the off-ramp, partially in the travel lane, state police said.
Following an investigation, the man's death has been determined to be a homicide, the state police said.
Detectives from Central District Major Crimes Squad responded to the scene and assumed the homicide investigation and are working to identify the man.
The Medical Examiner’s office will be conducting an autopsy to determine a cause of death.
Anyone with information that can aid investigators is asked to contact Troop H-Hartford at 860-534-1000.
